We are looking for a Database Administrator to join and represent our busy and dynamic team in Sofia.
Our tech teams can work as well REMOTELY within Bulgaria, occasionally youll need to come to the office in Sofia. Not often, but up to 2-3 times a month and of course, well cover all related expenses. You will be taking care of various requests and issues from connectivity to query evaluation providing timely support to database development teams in Europe and early birds from Toronto. It is so exciting to be the front person of the group that plays such an important role in Stars eco-sphere
Why we need you:
Youll be developing, maintaining, monitoring and supporting databases of different types in multiple environments which includes performance analysis and tuning, design and development of infrastructural projects, resource allocation, backing up and planning disaster recovery
Who are we looking for:
Your role will involve monitoring and support of DB infrastructure for the Group along with addressing and mitigating any issues that arise in our high-load oversized environment. Youll also be reviewing queries and configuration changes to ensure that our systems remain extremely efficient. A degree in IT or a related field is meaningful to make you capable of enforcing development standards and your overall knowledge of operating systems, networks, storage units and their integration in our Database environment is imperative.
Detailed requirements: • 5+ years of experience performing database administration tasks using multiple enterprise database products including DB2, MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle and others • 70% of the DBA support consist of handling performance issues in mission-critical and oversized environment with strict timeline requirement • Participate in the development of existing databases and technical design/evaluation of new features • Necessity to show good architectural skills and proved understanding of RDBM internals • Create and review infrastructural documents (architecture plans, upgrade plans, database migration plans, test strategies, PoCs) • Monitor and optimize performance for mission-critical high-intensity databases • Maintain and review security, privileges and data access templates • Administer, configure, and use tools for backing up and restoring databases • Create and develop backup-restore and DR strategy • Set up various high availability (HA) solutions: replications, HADR • Ability to be self-organized and plan to work independently • Excellent fluency in English, spoken and written • Ability to multi-task, switching between different activities and assignments
As the ideal candidate, you will have:
• Good experience in a similar role with proven knowledge of database installation, configuration, maintenance and support as youll be developing and reviewing all ETL processes based on the requirements
• Youll also need to have experience with large data volumes and high-load database systems
• Knowledge of database performance monitoring and tuning along with backup and recovery procedures is important to allow you to contribute to the development of the system architecture
• Effective communication and analytical/problem-solving skills are required
• Having curiosity and willing to learn
• Be a great team player
